Pilot Info

Synopsis:

As the show begins, the audience is introduced to two young people sitting
on a couch endlessly flipping through the channels.  While wading through one drab offering after another, they eventually stumble upon “Satellite Nation,” a series of short sketches and parodies sending up the current television and movie landscape.  With an emphasis on contemporary pop culture, the sketches take aim at a wide range of TV networks, genres and commercials, utilizing a variety of talented writers and performers.

Executive Producers:   Aaron Hilliard & Luke Del Tredici

Directors:   Aaron Hilliard & Luke Del Tredici

Writers:   Aaron Hilliard & Luke Del Tredici

Principal Cast: Ensemble…featuring, Aaron Hilliard, Luke Del Tredici & Kit Pongetti

Background:

Co-creators Aaron Hilliard and Luke Del Tredici met at Wesleyan University, where they co-edited the entertainment section of the student newspaper.  After graduating, the pair moved out to Los Angeles to pursue television writing jobs, but they still had the desire to work in film production.  Using a cast and crew of unemployed friends, they shot and edited Satellite Nation over the weekends while holding down day jobs at UCLA Medical Center.  In fact, the interior used in the sketch set at NASA was filmed in the radiology department.  Aaron and Luke are co-producers of Free Birds, a FOX comedy that will premiere midseason in 2005.

Why did you shoot a pilot?

“A big reason that we decided to put together another project was, we wanted to direct again and be able to show something to an audience,” said Aaron Hilliard.  “Laughing between the two of us was getting a little stale.”
